SEE ME is NOT a Magic Shield

Use of SEE ME™ cannot, by itself, save a person’s life, or prevent accidents from occurring. Use of SEE ME™ cannot directly protect a user from bodily injury. Even when using SEE ME™, other circumstances can yield a life-threatening encounter with an automobile.
Anticipate weather conditions, and always exercise caution when sharing the roadside. Remember the days, times, and locations quoted in SEE ME Background that strongly correlate with the highest frequency of accidents and injuries.
If you run or walk on the roadside during darkness, dress in light, reflective colors to improve your likelihood of being seen in an oncoming motorist's headlights. If you are a cyclist, always wear a helmet, to help prevent unintentional - and avoidable - brain injuries. A helmet can reduce a cyclist's risk of accidental death by 85%!
SEE ME™ is intended to help a cyclist or other user mitigate the risk they face in sharing the roadside with motorists day or night, but particularly at dusk and during hours of darkness when seeing is poorest, and especially where the interests of safety are served by improved visibility.
SEE ME™ can improve the visibility of a cyclist or pedestrian for whom a risk is posed by the approach of vehicles, particularly during hours of darkness. That improved visibility can afford an added advantage if the oncoming motorist is momentarily distracted or inattentive.
SEE ME™ will not wake a driver who has fallen asleep.
SEE ME™ will not make an aggressive driver yield the right-of-way.
SEE ME™ cannot make a drunk, drugged, or exhausted driver vigilant. |
